Checked in Monthly

Your selected X account is ready.

Make the connection

Connect Cursor to Monthly.

Connect your social accounts in Monthly first. Then add Monthly to the agent you already use.

01

Add a remote MCP server

In Cursor, use Customize → MCPs, or on the web open Add context and tools → MCP → Add MCP → Custom MCP. Choose URL and enter the address below.

MCP server URL
https://app.monthly.so/mcp
02

Sign in. Choose what to share.

Use your own Monthly account. Keep accounts:read and posts:read selected; leave drafting/media and scheduling/cancellation off. Select only your intended accounts.

03

Check your connection

Ask Cursor to list the accounts this Monthly connection can access. The result should match your selection. No post needs to be created or published.

Cloud Agent conversations require an eligible paid Cursor plan. Desktop and cloud sign-ins are separate.

Detailed setup & compatibility notes

Choose the Cursor surface you use. On the web, open cursor.com/agents → Add context and tools → MCP → Add MCP → Custom MCP. Name it Monthly, choose URL, enter the address below and leave Headers empty. Add MCP, then choose Connect beside Monthly. Cloud Agent conversations require an eligible paid Cursor plan; adding a server does not upgrade your account.

MCP server URL
https://app.monthly.so/mcp
Cursor mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "monthly": {
      "url": "https://app.monthly.so/mcp"
    }
  }
}

    For the desktop app

    Use Customize → MCPs, or merge the monthly entry above into the existing mcpServers object in ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Keep other servers. Refresh MCP settings and use Monthly’s sign-in control. No local server or terminal bridge is needed.

  2. 02

    Choose only read permissions

    Sign in to your own Monthly account. Keep account/capability and connection-created draft-status reads selected. Leave drafting/media and scheduling/cancellation off. Select only your own accounts that you intend to share; no access to Monthly’s test account is needed.

  3. 03

    Verify the actual connection

    Ask Agent for the read-only check below. Approve only read tools and inspect the returned accounts. Web/cloud and desktop sign-ins are separate; a successful connection on one does not verify the other. Organization rules and plan restrictions may prevent a test.

Client instructions checked October 26, 2026. Cursor MCP documentation. Production Cursor OAuth passed on October 26 with only @TryMonthly and accounts:read/posts:read. The personal web connection is enabled. Cloud tool calls remain unverified because this account’s Free plan does not include Cloud Agents. Desktop linking is separate and unverified.

A few good questions

Good to know before you connect.

Do I need a Monthly account?

Yes. Connect your social accounts in Monthly, then sign in to your own Monthly account during your agent’s OAuth flow. Each customer gets their own scoped connection; you never use another customer’s login or social credentials.

What can my agent see?

Only the accounts you select during consent and the permissions you allow. Post reads are limited to posts created by that same connection. Your social access tokens and passwords stay in Monthly.

Can it publish without my approval?

The read-only setup on this page cannot create or schedule posts. If you later grant drafting and scheduling permissions, every exact draft revision still needs your approval inside Monthly before it can be scheduled. Editing a draft clears its approval.

Do I need an API key?

Compatible MCP clients use OAuth sign-in and automatic client registration. You do not need to copy a Monthly API token or a shared client secret. Your agent’s account or subscription requirements are separate.

Why does the agent need me to sign in again?

A client may need to renew authorization or reconnect an expired account. Use the normal sign-in flow and check the permissions again. Never disable authentication or share a social password with an agent.

How do I disconnect an agent?

Open Monthly Settings → AI agents & API and revoke that connection. Revocation stops further agent actions. It does not cancel posts already in your queue; review those separately.
