Make the connection

Connect ChatGPT to Monthly.

Connect your social accounts in Monthly first. Then add Monthly to the agent you already use.

01

Add a custom MCP server

In ChatGPT Plugins, choose Add custom MCP server. Enter the address below, choose OAuth and automatic registration (DCR). In Advanced OAuth settings, select accounts:read and posts:read only.

MCP server URL
https://app.monthly.so/mcp
02

Sign in. Choose what to share.

Use your own Monthly account. Keep accounts:read and posts:read selected; leave drafting/media and scheduling/cancellation off. Select only your intended accounts.

03

Check your connection

Ask ChatGPT to list the accounts this Monthly connection can access. The result should match your selection. No post needs to be created or published.

No API token or shared client secret is needed for this OAuth flow.

Detailed setup & compatibility notes
  1. 01

    Before you begin

Have a Monthly account, an active supported plan and an enabled account in Settings → Integrations. Your ChatGPT account or workspace must allow custom MCP servers.

  2. 02

    Add a custom MCP server

In ChatGPT Plugins, use the plus button and choose Add custom MCP server. This creates a personal or workspace connection, not a public directory listing.

  3. 03

    Use the Monthly endpoint

Name the connection Monthly, enter the HTTPS URL below, and choose OAuth. Open Advanced OAuth settings and use Dynamic Client Registration (DCR).

  4. 04

    Choose connection permissions

Under Default scopes, select accounts:read and posts:read only. Leave drafts:write and posts:schedule off and Base scopes empty. Review the server risk notice, then create the personal plugin.

  5. 05

    Connect your Monthly account

Choose Connect, sign in to Monthly and check that consent requests only account and draft-status reads. Select only the accounts you want to share. Stop if the permissions are broader than expected.

  6. 06

    Check it in a conversation

Choose Try in chat on the resulting plugin, or select it in a conversation. Send the read-only connection check below and confirm that the returned accounts match your selection.

MCP server URL
https://app.monthly.so/mcp

Choose OAuth, not No authentication. Use dynamic client registration (DCR) when the setup asks how to register this connection. You do not need a Monthly API token or a shared client secret for this flow.

Client instructions checked October 26, 2026. OpenAI connection documentation. Private ChatGPT OAuth and read-only account/capability/draft-status checks passed on October 26. Drafting, scheduling, client revocation/reconnection and public directory review are not verified by that check.

A few good questions

Good to know before you connect.

Do I need a Monthly account?

Yes. Connect your social accounts in Monthly, then sign in to your own Monthly account during your agent’s OAuth flow. Each customer gets their own scoped connection; you never use another customer’s login or social credentials.

What can my agent see?

Only the accounts you select during consent and the permissions you allow. Post reads are limited to posts created by that same connection. Your social access tokens and passwords stay in Monthly.

Can it publish without my approval?

The read-only setup on this page cannot create or schedule posts. If you later grant drafting and scheduling permissions, every exact draft revision still needs your approval inside Monthly before it can be scheduled. Editing a draft clears its approval.

Do I need an API key?

Compatible MCP clients use OAuth sign-in and automatic client registration. You do not need to copy a Monthly API token or a shared client secret. Your agent’s account or subscription requirements are separate.

Why does the agent need me to sign in again?

A client may need to renew authorization or reconnect an expired account. Use the normal sign-in flow and check the permissions again. Never disable authentication or share a social password with an agent.

How do I disconnect an agent?

Open Monthly Settings → AI agents & API and revoke that connection. Revocation stops further agent actions. It does not cancel posts already in your queue; review those separately.
